How to make reverse layups

layup is the most basic and fundamental shots in basketball and also one of the most high-percentage shots that you can take. Whether you are on a fast break or driving through the lane these are the steps to follow to make all your layups count.

1. While dribbling to the basket, pick a side to which you will perform your lay-up. If it's to your right, then dribble with your right hand. As you reach the hoop plant and leap off of your left or inside foot so that you are shooting with your right hand. Keep your head up and focused on the basket. Go strong towards the hoop and lay the basketball against the upper corner of the backboard so that it ricochets into the hoop

2. Reverse Layups. The idea with the reverse layup is to fool your defender into thinking that you are just performing a normal layup, but instead you slip around the basket to the other side. Approach the basket like a standard lay-up, but take an extra dribble where you would normally take your steps. Use the basket to shield yourself from the big players underneath the hoop. If you are approaching from the left, then take your two steps and leap off your right foot while laying up with your left hand. Lay the basketball against the upper left top corner of the backboard so that it banks into the basket.
