Preparing steps, ware up stretches before playing the game.
Thre are meny differnt techniques to shot a bastket. Below is quite easy eaven for benginners to make fantasic shootings.
Follow-through with your eyes, keep your eyes focused on your target until the ball goes through the hoop.
Stand under the basket like you're going to shoot a flat footed lay-up . If you're right handed, shoot from the left side of the basket. If you're left handed, shoot from the right side of the basket. If you're right handed the outside of your right foot should be in line with the left side of that regulation box painted on the backboard.
When standing on the opposite side of the basket from your shooting hand, on this shooting position and aiming for the upper outside corner of the box, the rim forces you to tuck in your elbow, the rim forces you to place your shooting hand in the proper position under and behind the ball and properly support the basketball with your non-shooting hand. How? If your elbow is out of position you will hit the bottom of the rim with the basketball. If your shooting hand is not in the proper position under and behind the ball you will hit the bottom of the rim with the basketball. If your support hand is placed improperly along side the basketball you will hit the bottom of the rim with the basketball. You will hit the bottom of the rim if you do any of these improperly while standing on this shooting position and aiming for the upper outside corner of the box!
This shooting position and the bottom of rim become your shooting form's best friends. You must make this hard, make this difficult on yourself! (The more difficult you make this now, the higher your game shooting percentage climbs.)
While practicing lay ups, aim at the upper outside corner of that regulation box painted on the backboard. Follow through with your eyes. Keep your eyes focused on the upper outside corner of the box until the ball goes through the hoop.
In order to get comfortable shooting lay-ups with your non-dominant hand practice shooting them flat footed on the opposite side of the basket from your non-dominant hand. Practice the left hand from the right side and the right hand from the left side.
These are the only shooting mechanics you will ever need to practice. As long as your elbow is under your shooting hand and the index finger of your shooting hand is pointing directly behind you as you go up for your shot, your body can be in any position.
The slowly layup is the most easy shot in basketball. The only excuse for missing a layup is a hard foul. You should be able to shoot a layup with either hand from either side of the basket with 100% proficiency. But how do you know which hand to use on any given shot attempt? Your shooting hand is dictated by the defense. If the defense is weak (lacking in effort) or there's no defense at all use your right hand on the right side of the basket and your left hand on the left side of the basket. If the defense is in your face you may need to swap hands.
The closer you are to the basket the easier it is to score. Get as high as you can when shooting a lay-up. You'll find this is exactly how you should be shooting your jump shots too… getting as high as you can.
